We’re kicking off our fall session of Fridays at First Literacy professional development events with an exciting approach to teaching ESOL:
Visual Storytelling — Using Photography to Teach English Language Learners
Friday, October 14 & Friday, November 4

This two-part workshop explores the intersection between producing photographic images and language, and how this relationship may be applied to ESOL instruction. Presented are ways that adult learners can develop their ability to express themselves in English, improving their vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills through the construction of written narratives in the context of their own photographs.

The goal of our Professional Development Workshops is to strengthen ABE programs by providing approaches and resources that participants may immediately implement and share with others in their programs. All workshops are free to teachers, program administrators, coordinators, and counselors of ABE programs.
