Exectutive Director, Skye Kramer Executive Director, Skye Kramer

As Executive Director, Ms. Kramer, who has 17 years experience in nonprofit management, is responsible for the management and operations of the organization, including all programming, fundraising, finances, marketing, and staffing. She has been at First Literacy since July 2010. Her prior experience includes serving as Executive Director of the Brookline Education Foundation, an organization that supports the public schools of Brookline.


Director of Programs, Lenore Balliro

Ms. Balliro has worked with adult basic education programs in New England for over 25 years. Before joining First Literacy, she held positions at the Adult Literacy Resource Institute/SABES and World Education. Her area of specialization is professional development, and she brings experience as an ESOL and ABE instructor, program director, editor, and education consultant to her work with teachers and programs. Ms. Balliro is especially interested in the intersection of expressive arts and the acquisition of literacy and language.


Development and Events Manager, Jamie Ayer

As Development and Events Manager, Ms. Ayer is responsible for managing all aspects of fundraising, including researching and developing winning grant proposals and planning large and small events. Her love of reading and desire for meaningful work make First Literacy a natural fit. Prior to joining the team at First Literacy, she worked at Montserrat College of Art and Plummer Youth Promise (formerly Plummer Home for Boys) in similar development roles.



Staff Associate, Paula Dincer

Ms. Dincer discovered a passion for working with adult learners as a part-time ESOL teacher and private tutor with the Cambridge Literacy Project, and was introduced to First Literacy through its Professional Development workshops. She adds her skills in program support and database management to the First Literacy team. Her prior experience covers 20-plus years working with foreign nationals in a management role, including a decade as executive director of a US-based nonprofit supporting progressive education in Turkey.
