First Literacy Scholar: Dimas

When Dimas was 18 years old, he arrived in the United States from El Salvador with his family. Unable to speak English he could only find work with a cleaning company. He soon moved on to food service and a job with Dunkin’ Donuts while improving his language skills at the Immigrant Learning Center. This fall at Bunker Hill Community College Dimas will take courses in healthcare technology working toward his short-term goal to become a hospital systems administrator. Ultimately Dimas dreams of a future in technology, specifically in aeronautics engineering.
