Enrique is from El Salvador. After finishing high school, he joined a Roman Catholic seminary for four years before seeking a new path in pursuit of his dream of becoming a graphic designer. Life outside the seminary was difficult, gangs are prevalent in his home country of El Salvador, and he lost some family members to gang violence. He did not see a good future for himself in El Salvador, so he made the decision to come to the United States.

Enrique faced many challenges as an immigrant, but unwavering support from his family and the guidance of organizations like Catholic Charities have fueled his motivation to follow the right path.

With the scholarship from First Literacy, Enrique plans to continue to pursue his passion for art, making a positive impact on the world through his creativity and talent.
