Josephine moved to the U.S. with dreams of furthering her education. When she arrived, she was met with financial challenges that forced her to put her education on hold. Instead of pursuing her GED, she obtained her certified nursing assistant certificate and started working at a nursing rehabilitation center.
Soon after the birth of her second child she decided to enroll in an adult education program and spent years diligently studying for the GED. The support and encouragement from her fiancé helped her along the way and after a lot of hard work she finally received her GED.
With her GED in hand, Josephine embarked on a new chapter at Mount Wachusett Community College, pursuing her passion for healthcare. With the scholarship from First Literacy, she envisions a future as a licensed nurse, touching lives with quality care.
