Born and raised in Haiti, Luggens was taught at a young age to tackle challenges head-on. When Luggens arrived in the U.S. he faced language barriers, but this did not deter him from pursuing his education. He took beginner’s English classes, determined to master the language. A father of two young children, he understood the importance of setting an example.
With a dream of becoming a doctor, the First Literacy scholarship emerged as a beacon of hope, a chance to pave the path to medical school. Luggens is currently enrolled at Mount Wachusett Community College. After graduating from Mount Wachusett Community College he plans to apply to the premed program at UMass Lowell. While he knows it is a long road ahead, he believes that with hard work and dedication he can achieve his goal of becoming a medical doctor.
