PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORTS TEACHERS

Championing the front line in Adult Basic Education is essential to reach more adult learners and improve adult literacy throughout Massachusetts. First Literacy professional development workshops give educators a chance to hear from experts in the field who are thinking outside the box. Our free workshops are an opportunity for educators to learn how to implement innovative ways to teach Adult Basic Education and ESOL classes.

Helping Teachers Succeed In Their Mission

Allison Reid Headshot First Literacy workshop participantAs a teacher at Holyoke Community College, Allison has been attending First Literacy workshops for the last four years. Allison’s passion for teaching and desire to help adult learners is what keeps her coming back year after year.

“First Literacy offers workshops on topics that aren’t always addressed by other providers, and that are central to good teaching. The workshops offer different perspectives and are a great opportunity to think with colleagues about common challenges and gain new resources.”

One of the pillars of First Literacy’s mission is to support adult educators with free professional development workshops. These workshops are intended to help teachers fulfill their mission to help adult learners achieve their dreams through the power of education.

We are proud to champion the front line in Adult Basic Education and love to support teachers like Allison who have been participating in First Literacy workshops for years. We look forward to sharing more workshops with adult educators in 2022!
