First Literacy Scholar: Wilfrix

first literacy scholar wilfrix

Wilfrix grew up in Haiti. As a child he was forced to stay home from school for nine years because his family did not have enough money to pay for school. In 2014 Wilfrix immigrated to Boston. He was determined to complete his studies and learn English. First Literacy was the first organization that stepped up to provide Wilfrix a scholarship to further his education. In June of 2019 Wilfrix graduated from the Urban College of Boston and he is now working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services at Lesley University. Wilfrix currently works as a career counselor at English for New Bostonians. His goal is to become a social worker and start his own business. As a leader in the ESOL community, Wilfrix is relentless in his desire to help other adult immigrants achieve their educational goals and have access to necessary resources.
