Growing up in a challenging environment in Colombia, Ana found inspiration in her mother’s strength. Her mother worked hard to put food on the table and introduced her to music and books. Books quickly became Ana’s window to a world of possibilities, sparking a desire to help those in need.
In 2019 Ana made the difficult decision to leave her home in Colombia and come to the United States. She came to the U.S. alone and knew very little English when she arrived, but she embraced the new challenge, focusing on learning English and taking on various jobs to make ends meet. Each struggle became an opportunity for personal growth. Now, with the chance to go to college through a scholarship from First Literacy, Ana is determined to become a social worker, using her life experiences to understand and help others.
