Guyliano moved to the United States from Haiti in November 2022. In Haiti, Guyliano built a successful career as a top manager in the Maritime Authority, gaining over a decade of experience in procurement, logistics, and project management. Alongside his professional accomplishments, he also taught marketing and management at the university level for 15 years. Guyliano holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and another master’s degree in economics and management. Fluent in French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and conversational Spanish, he has traveled to countries like the Dominican Republic, Suriname, and Cuba for advanced training in Maritime Affairs.
Despite his qualifications and experience, starting over in a new country has been challenging, but he is determined to learn English and re-establish himself professionally. With the scholarship from First Literacy, Guyliano plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Operations and Logistics Management at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he began his studies in January 2025.
Outside the classroom, Guyliano is a dedicated father of two and sees himself as a role model for his children, striving to lead with humility, honesty, and integrity.
