As a first-generation college student in Colombia, Lorena discovered her calling in psychology and witnessed the need for accessible mental health services.
Moving to the United States alone, Lorena faced new challenges, but her determination only grew stronger. Finding a supportive community at El Centro, she immersed herself in her studies and pursued her goal of becoming a psychologist.
Lorena’s experiences as an immigrant have fueled her passion for helping underserved communities. With support from First Literacy, she plans to pursue a degree in psychology and hopes to make a lasting impact on individuals’ lives, providing them with compassionate and equitable mental health services.
