At twenty-three years old, Natalia made the decision to move to the United States to seek out opportunities that were not available in her home country of Colombia. While Natalia did have a degree in journalism and social communication from her home country, building a new life alone in the U.S., learning a new language, new traditions, and a new culture was extremely challenging. When she started her first job in the United States as a cook in a kitchen she realized a passion for hospitality work. With the First Literacy scholarship, she plans to continue to study entrepreneurship and hospitality at Bunker Hill Community College with the dream of one day becoming a business owner.
