A single mother of two young children from Jamaica, Sherita was determined to end the cycle of poverty for her family. She completed a successful first year at Bunker Hill Community College and is working toward her goal of applying to Bunker Hill’s nursing program. Sherita resourcefully identified the services she needed for support and shares her experience as a role model, volunteer, and mentor at both Bunker Hill and her adult education program. She plans to continue her studies part-time until she earns her degree in 2021. Her 8-year-old son is her biggest inspiration because he is so proud of her achievements.
