Mother/Child Reading Program for Incarcerated Women

Partner Program: Criminal Justice Organization of Hampden County, Inc. (CJOHC)

Project Description: This mother/child reading program was developed by CJOHC for women incarcerated at the Western Mass Regional Women’s Correctional Center in Chicopee, MA. The goal of the program was to improve literacy skills for both the mother and child(ren) involved in the program. Age-appropriate books were provided to the children and the mothers assisted in learning to read aloud with their children. Both virtual and in-person sessions were available to the families.
