Microcredentials for Educators

First Literacy is excited to announce its new microcredentialing program for Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) educators. The microcredentialing program is a great way to build upon knowledge and skills while also boosting your professional profile. Microcredentials can be added to both your resume and LinkedIn profile.

Two Ways To Receive A First Literacy Microcredential

1. Those who participate in four or more First Literacy professional development workshops per academic year will receive a general ABE/ESOL microcredential.
2. Those who participate in three or more First Literacy professional development workshops from a specific category will receive a microcredential for that category.

The First Literacy microcredential categories are:

• Foundational Principles (F)
• Advanced Principles (A)
• Civic, Cultural, and Current Events (C)
• Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
• Technology (T)

All First Literacy professional development workshops will indicate which microcredential category(ies) they cover. First Literacy will send out all earned microcredentials to participants in June after completion of the academic year. This includes a branded seal to add to your LinkedIn profile, as well as a certificate of completion.

Microcredential Requirements

• All workshop participants must be ABE/ESOL educators at a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization.
• Participants must be present for the entire workshop in order for it to count toward the microcredential program. For online sessions, this includes having your screen on.
