First Literacy is pleased to announce Jim Nolan, previously First Literacy‘s Vice President of the Board has been appointed as new Chairman of the Board. Effective July 1, Nolan succeeds Jeff Beale, who recently stepped down after serving as Chairman for the past fourteen years.
On April 9th the First Literacy Spelling Bee was featured in The Boston Globe. While this was the 32nd year First Literacy hosted the Spelling Bee, this was the first time the event included both recorded and live components.
On Thursday, April 7, at First Literacy’s 32nd annual Spelling Bee, State Street Corporation received special recognition; by being the first to receive the “First Literacy Champion Award”.
Games have been around for hundreds of thousands of years. A popular past time for all ages, games promote problem solving, enhance memory, increase motivation and are a form of social interaction. It’s no surprise that games are used widely in the field of education as a fun way to learn a new skill or subject.
