On Thursday, April 11, sixteen teams battled it out at the State Street Channel Center, spelling words that stumped even the savviest spellers. Community Advisory Council for Crimson Lion Foundation came out on top spelling the word “diphthong” correctly.
On Thursday, April 11, at First Literacy’s 34th Annual Spelling Bee, Kevin McGovern, Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP*, will receive the “First Literacy Champion Award”. This award is being given in gratitude to Kevin McGovern, a longtime supporter of First Literacy and its work supporting adult literacy.
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 6pm First Literacy will host the 34th Annual Spelling Bee at the State Street Channel Center in Boston. Anyone who would like to form a spelling team can do so. During the Spelling Bee swarms of spellers will compete by spelling words sure to stump even the savviest of spellers.
The pursuit of knowledge knows no age limit, and scholarships designed specifically for adult learners play a pivotal role in breaking barriers and creating opportunities for those who seek to further their education later in life.
First Literacy is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Hamilton Company Charitable Foundation. The grant will enable First Literacy to continue its impactful work making education accessible to adult learners throughout Massachusetts.
