First Literacy is pleased to announce Jim Nolan, previously First Literacy‘s Vice President of the Board has been appointed as new Chairman of the Board. Effective July 1, Nolan succeeds Jeff Beale, who recently stepped down after serving as Chairman for the past fourteen years.

This amazing woman, was stolen from her family in Africa at the age of eight, brought to Boston in 1761 on a slave ship not speaking a word of English, and wrote her first poem in English four years later.
