Ringing In The New Year With A New Website

ringing-in-the-new-year-with-new-website-first-literacy-blog‘Tis the season for fresh starts, goal setting, and of course New Year’s Resolutions. As we embark on a new year, here at First Literacy we are kicking off 2022 with a fresh new website.

Since 1998 First Literacy has helped over 50,000 adults improve their lives through the power of education and allocated more than $6 million to support teachers and innovative adult literacy programs. While our work is changing lives, there are still more teachers, more adult learners, and more organizations that need our support.

In 2022 our goal at First Literacy is to do more … award more scholarships, support more teachers, and fund more innovative programs. With this goal in mind, we knew a new website was a key ingredient in our quest to do more.

Out with the Old, In with the New

Our old website helped us get to where we are today; but in order to raise the bar, big changes needed to be made. Our new website now features 4 key pages – LEARN, TEACH, SUPPORT, and IMPACT.

first literacy website old and new

  1. The LEARN page includes information for adult learners about scholarships and resources.
  2. The TEACH page is a hub for Adult Basic Education (ABE) and ESOL educators. From this page teachers and administrators can easily find information about professional development workshops, grants, and free educator resources.
  3. The SUPPORT page showcases the many ways that someone can help First Literacy do more.
  4. The IMPACT page spotlights all the great work we are doing at First Literacy.

Pop the Champagne … Search Functions and A New Blog are Here!

Offering easy access to resources and showcasing our impact were at the top of our list when we mapped out the new website design.

Our Resources For Educators Page now includes a new search tool that allows website visitors to access free resources by searching a specific category or search term. On the Scholar Stories Page visitors can easily search for inspiring stories by year, by college attended, and by Adult Basic Education nominating organization.

Then there is our new blog “Cover To Cover”. Our blog will be a resource for educators, a source of inspiration for adult learners, and a place where supporters can learn how funding innovation in adult literacy changes lives.

We hope you enjoy our new website experience. Increasing awareness of our programs and shining a light on adults struggling with low-literacy and limited English proficiency is essential to our mission.

Please help us do more in 2022 by sharing our new website with family and friends.
